Learning to Paint in Oils – Part 2
We had a bit of a break in-between the first painting class and then unfortunately I had to miss the second one. I made up for it in the third class however, adding a blue glaze to my apple painting and the still life I started in the first class. I then painted over the still life in white as I had made it too dark in the first session. I also started a third little study of the pear in the still life group in a brown glaze on canvas.
Here are some photos of my progress with each painting – the sessions were four and a half hours long so there was time to get lots of painting done!
The Apple
Still Life
It was a bit nerve-wracking at first painting straight over the original glaze with white but I soon got the hang of it. Painting with oils is far more forgiving than I expected and each session has been very relaxing!
